Spaghetti NIght!

Spaghetti is a big fan favourite in our house, it's loved by everyone including Qimik!  The other night we decided rather than cleaning Sofia up with a washcloth like we normally do after a meal we'd let Qimik clean her up!  Oh the laughs!!  There were too many fun pictures for me to choose from I couldn't decide so you're getting all of them!
Sofia signing 'food'
Looking for scraps in her bib but Qim had already got them all.
He's very thorough he even licked her side clean!
Jazz hands!
Hmmmm....
(I LOVE this picture ... )
She and I were having a yelling competition.
I always win! :)
Sofia signing and saying 'all done'
Auntie Martiza says "No feet on the table"
Somebody listens well!
Cheese!

Raspberries!

Papas raspberry bush is loaded with yummy golden berries!
Papa feeding Sofia her first "harvest gold raspberry"
Picking some herself.
Who knew picking berries required such concentration?
To be fair, she probably had her mouth full already!
"Mmmmm"
She was picking everything off the bush and just shoving it in her mouth.  Ripe, unripe, and leaves she tried it all!
This is Sofia holding a dead beetle.  I hate creepy crawlies so it's only appropriate that my little girl love them, right?!?!
Oh, and yes she tried to eat him too!  (but Mumma and Papa have lightening fast reflexes!)

Trapped!

If you asked Sofia her least favourite thing in the house she would probably tell you it is the baby gates that confine her.  Seems Little Miss Sofia doesn't like it when Mum and Dad leave her alone in a room no matter how big the room and how many toys are in it.  Needless to say, it something that we are working on.  The other day Grant and I had some work to do outside and so we attempted to keep Sofia in the kitchen.  As it turned out I spent more time taking pictures and entertaining her but at least I was on the other side of the gate!  Baby steps...
 Watching Daddy and Qimik outside
Look at those little itty bitty runners!!
Kisses!

Warm & Fuzzy

This morning my dentists office called to remind me of my appointment for tomorrow.  When I made that appointment 6 months ago we'd just got our referral and I remember happily explaining to the receptionist "If I don't show up it's because I'm in Ethiopia picking up my baby girl" ... Well didn't I get a warm and fuzzy this morning since my baby girl is sleeping safely upstairs in her crib.  It's brought me to tear how lucky we are and how lucky we were in our adoption.  Our Sofia needed us.  She was not thriving in the Transition House, she was ok but not thriving.  She is thriving now, in her home with her parents.  Anyway I digress.  We are lucky, we realize that we are lucky, we are very very happy and thankful.

Oh and Dianne I cancelled my dentists appointment because of our lunch plans.  You'd better email me and tell me the plan or I'll blame any future tooth caries on you!

Baby Mama

No, I don't mean me... My baby is playing Mama with her doll.  Last Friday Sofia and I were playing with her doll "Ti-Do" (yes, as in La, Ti, Do) and I picked up a bottle pretended to feed her.  Sofia thought it was fun and said "mmmm" and smacked her lips.  I've got more pictures of her and Ti-Do on my camera that I'll post later.  She's a very thoughtful Mama, she rocks Ti-Do, puts Ti-Do to her shoulder and pats her back, she also tests the bottle (which is empty) to make sure that it tastes good!  Oh, my little girl makes me laugh!

Camping!

This weekend we ventured into the woods, 2 hours by road 1 hour by logging road.  For those of you how live in areas where there aren't logging roads think ill-maintained gravel road.  Sofia did well on the trip a few tears on the way up but none on the way home.  We camped at Flora Lake and it was beautiful.  The mosquitoes were a bit thick and stubborn for my liking but I'm glad we toughed it out.  I've never met mosquitoes that would still bit despite 2 kinds of bug spray, mosquito coils, citronella candles, and campfire ... they must have been starving!  Amazingly enough the 3 youngest babies didn't have any bites, the 2 Mums got the worst of it and my friend Maritza reacted very badly, poor thing.

For the most part we kept Sofia to her schedule and she had so much fun.  She slept, ate, and played with her cousins!  Sleeping in the tent didn't bother her at all.  She shared a sleeping bag with Grant and I.  We've only slept with her in our bed a couple of times so we were sure how that was going to go but she didn't seem to notice.  Typically Qimik napped with her during the day, they got pretty cozy together with him curled around her.  It's nice to have a nap-buddy!
Camping? Hmmm do I like that?
Qimik already knew that he LOVES camping, he got into the car while we were loading it!
As if we'd leave him behind...
YEAH!
The car was SO full but it did great on the logging road due to a fantastic driver!
The view from our campsite looking out over Flora Lake
Grant, Dustin and Morgan drove up the mountain on the opposite side of the lake.
Our campsite is hiding behind the 3 tree from the right.
Dinner time
Breakfast time
It was typical camping weather cool in the morning hot during the day.
Grant and I both took Sofia on a couple of walks/hikes in the sling,
it worked great!
Flora Lake is a Forest Rec site, so there was a picnic table and a stone fire pit
The best thing about Forest Rec sites is that they are remote and free!
Sofia spent a bit of time crawling around the campsite but her cousins
kept her pretty occupied.
3 of the cousins, Dustin, and Qimik
(we were the tent D&M were the trailer)
This is how Sofia spent most of the weekend
the other girls really enjoyed pushing her around.
Even the 20 month old twins were pushing her and each other
who would've guessed that the best "toy" we brought would have been that stroller!
Waking up from a nap
It's her first camping trip but she looks like a seasoned bush-girl already!
Playing in the lake
The weather was wonderfully hot and the water was wonderfully cool.
Dustin brought a boat that we all took turns in.  G & D rowed to the middle of the lake and jumped in.
Now that's a big smile!
Sofias camping wounds a bump on the chin and a scrape on the nose.
She must have had fun!
While Grant & I broke down camp Sofia spun the wheels on her stroller.
Again, best "toy" we took!
