My mothering skilz

I was recently sent some pictures of our time in Ethiopia and this picture from Sofias first birthday were in there. Proof I was a multi-tasking mother right from the beginning! Then I remembered that Grant had take a shot of me nursing Maizie and having a beer with him too. Ah, what a classy Mum I am!
The way I see it the best mothers don't forget to take care of themselves. If the Mumma is happy the family is happy!

Sofia cracks me up!

Tonight I was watching "Cake Boss" while getting the girls ready for bed. Buddy was making a zebra stripe cake and I said "ooh, I really like that". Sofia said to me "You like that Mumma. Ok I'll get it for you. When you take Maizie upstairs to bed I'll jump into the tv and ask the man on the show 'Excuse me, my Mumma likes your cake could I please take it for her' and then I think he'll say 'yes you may'. But then it's tricky cause how will I jump back out with the cake? I might drop it or I might get stuck. Then you'd be sad because I'd be in the tv. I think we should just pretend".

And earlier today she said "You're my favourite boss that I ever had" and "Hey I'm not your sugar. You're my sugar! Well actually you can be my sugar and I'll be your sugar. Ok sugar?"

Ecamp

This passed weekend our family had a wonderful time at Camp Pringle in Shawnigan Lake. It's a short drive from our house but it felt wonderful to be away for a few days. We didn't attend camp last year because I was working but we will be returning next year without doubt! The camp was started as a way to connect our kids to their heritage, what better way to do that then to spend a weekend with some Ethiopian families. Last year the camp was just adopted families but this year we had 5+ Ethiopian families join all us adoptive families. And from what I've been told with all the fun they had there are going to many more Ethiopian families joining us next year!

The highlights of the weekend include a capsized canoe full of adults that couldn't swim, crafts outside on picnic tables, a fantastic Ethiopian feast (cooked by a man), and a coffee ceremony with singing and dancing! Sofia is still talking about the dancing and singing.

I didn't take any pictures at all but luckily our friends did. I should be getting some pics of our family have fun and I'll be sure to share a few when I get them.

Happy 1st Birthday Liam

I can't believe that the little guy across the road is 1 already ... this means that in exactly 6 weeks wee Miss Maizie is going to be 1. WOW! Has a year gone by that fast?!? We are Mac users and iPhoto has a setting that says "the last 12 months". This is my favourite setting because I'm reminded of where my family was 12 months ago and with a quick scroll I can see a 'year in review'.

Maizie 2009
(although then she was unknown gender baby Dybdal)

I have been really bad at taking pictures lately. It's not that we haven't been doing anything, we are busy peoples. But my camera screen broke last summer and since Christmas I've been using my phone to take pictures. The last time I connected my phone to the computer it took so long to sync that I didn't have time left to upload (download ?) them. I'll have to try again soon. My girls are so cute & I know I've got some good shots on there!

In the latest news Miss Maizie has cut another tooth on the bottom right side. Sadly for her (and us) this pair of teeth didn't play fair and have decided to come through independently. The left one is now making it's push through. BOO there should be a law that say teeth have to come through pairs. Having to do them one at a time is so exhausting! I am blessed though by a fantastic husband who shares the night time duties! and by a wonderful 3 year old who can sleep through her sisters night time screechings!
