Day to day

The text I sent to Grant with this picture attached was "someone needs to say 'no' to this one more often." His response was an honest "why do you find that no is effective?" 

Maizie is a limit pusher. Keep in mind the date of this picture was April 24 and it was about 15 degrees outside. I started calling her 'tumble weed' a long while ago and I honestly can't remember why but this kid changes direction without warning and you never know where the wind is going to blow her next. She keeps my days busy! One of the best parts of my day is when Sofia is at school, Solveig is sleeping and Maizie & I make sandwiches and cuddle under a blanket while we watch tv and eat. This forgotten middle child stuff is goofy, my middle gets the most one on one time of any of my girls.

Our new suitcases are just the right size.

This little one with perfect vision loves wearing glasses. 

"Get dressed for a walk in the forest." I said

Maizie appears in a skirt and short sleeve shirt. 

Surprisingly I talked her into socks, leggings, boots, and a coat.

She was wading in a mud puddle when she fell backwards. 

"Take a picture of my bummy bum so I can see it!" At least she was happy.

Oh Miss Sofia and her poses. She's been striking poses for pictures for years now but they are getting more interesting. That kid cracks me up!

Kids Krazy Kilometer

Sofia asked to run in a race and I found a local race that seemed perfect for her. Grant mapped out a perfect 1km loop around our block and he and I ran with Sofia a few times in training. The day of the race we learned she was the only one in her age/gender category so at the start line we said "Run as fast as you can to the turn around and then run faster on the way back!" As she ran out of sight I started to cry. I was overwhelmed with pride and awe of my oldest baby. She's so confident and capable when it comes to athletics. I love watching her play soccer, ride bikes, and now run. I look forward to years of her making my heart swell and eyes well. 

Easter 2013

Maizie turns 3.5!

3.5!  I'm not even sure where to start with this character. I'll come back to write something about the Divine Miss M another night soon. 

Maizie dressed and ready to go for a roadtrip 3 hours too early. We've learned when motivated properly Maizie is amazing fast at readying herself. However without proper motivation .... well let's say I'm trying to learn what motivates her. ;) 

Giant Baby turns 2!

I'm pretty sure that I'm in denial about the fact my youngest daughter, my baby, is 2 years old already. Three days before her birthday someone asked me how old she was and I responded, "She's 23 months not quite 2." All normal people would have said "2". I'm working on it. I'm now able to say "She just turned 2." 

Solveig is so much fun right now.  She constantly surprises me with thoughtful comments and goofy antics. Yesterday after we picked up Sofia from school Solveig said "Dofia you have good day at school? What did you do? Tell us." Today Maizie helped her by getting her a soccer ball and Solveig said "Help you big sister Maizie." with this funny little accent that cracks me up daily. 'May-zay' Solveig is watching me all the time but watching her big sisters even closer. She loves to read books and do puzzles. She gets into her fair share of trouble that usually involves her colouring on something illegal (herself, my rug, the table). She has learned to stand up for herself and what she believes in. She has stormed away from me on more than one occasion stating "I'm mad at you!" and she's also told me "You hurt my feelings." 

This little person amazes me. In the middle of the night when she crawls into my bed I feel two hands on my cheeks and the words "kiss mumma kiss" just before I feel two little lips squish into mine. Time is moving too fast but I thank the universe every day for my sweet Solveig.
